ISHAE Conference Scholarships

The seminars and other programs offered at our annual summer meeting and winter conference include top-notch association management professionals, with topics such as membership recruiting and retention, nonprofit tax law, communications, lobbying, board and committee management, and much more. Our roundtable sessions provide an excellent source for members to share ideas with each other. We believe that stronger state lodging associations mean a stronger AH&LA, and that all of our members should have access to these valuable tools that help them do their jobs better. Recognizing that budgets are always a challenge, ISHAE is offering scholarships to members to attend the summer and winter conferences.

The application process is very simple and well worth taking advantage of. This scholarship program is intended for everyone. Those states with limited budgets whose executive directors are not typically able to attend should consider applying. Those states whose executive directors may be able attend should consider sending one or more key staff members who might also benefit from the conferences.

Since the non-member registration rate for the conferences is typically double the member registration rate, staff persons working for an ISHAE member state association executive should consider becoming an ISHAE Associate Member (annual dues $50) in order to qualify for the scholarship, and save the additional amount charged for non-member registration.

Scholarship Guidelines:

Summer Conference Scholarship: $350
Winter Conference Scholarship: $750
Limit one scholarship per person per calendar year.
Limit two scholarships per association per year (must be two different persons).
Priority is given to first time applicants.
Priority Order: State executives, International members, Associate Members.
Must donate package(s) to the ISHAE Auction (Summer Scholarship: $250 value) or ISHAE Winter Auction (Winter Scholarship: $500 value).
State association must be in good financial standing with AH&LA.
Honor System: No financial data required.
Recipients must attend entire conference and supply post conference testimonial.
Scholarship may be used for expenses related to attending the conference: Travel, Lodging, Registration
Scholarship proceeds will be paid by check following the conference.
Must be a current member of ISHAE to apply.
