AH&LEF ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2012 INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, AH&LEF awards scholarships to state association executives and staff members to attend the Institute for Organizational Management. This educational program, conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Congress, is a series of one-week seminars on business management, sequenced over four years, and specifically designed for association executives.
Any PSA executive or staff member interested in being considered should email an updated resume, which includes current position, as well as a short statement explaining why you want to be considered to Michelle Poinelli at AH&LEF mpoinelli@ahlef.org. The application deadline is Friday, November 16th. ISHAE’s board reviews the applications during the winter ISHAE meeting and makes recommendations to the Foundation regarding the recipients and award amounts.
In 2012, $4,500 was budgeted from the Lawson Odde Memorial Scholarship Fund and ISHAE donated an additional $500 bringing the total scholarship budget to $5,000. In previous years CEO scholarship recipients received a $1,745 scholarship to cover tuition ($1,295) plus a stipend to assist with travel, meals, and lodging expenses. Once a CEO scholarship is awarded, the CEO is assured funding to finish the program as long as he or she does not miss two consecutive years. Last year non-CEO staff members received either a $1,000 scholarship to continue in the program or $500 if newly applying for a scholarship. Non-CEO scholarships are renewed on a year-to-year basis. The scholarship award amounts might differ from year-to-year depending upon the number of applicants. The Lawson Odde Fund is budgeted for a $4,500 allocation in 2013.

Southeast Institute – June 23-27, 2013 – University of Georgia, Athens, GA
West Institute – July 14-18, 2013 – Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA
Northeast Institute – July 28 - August 1, 2013 – Villanova University, Villanova, PA
Winter Institute – January 2014 – University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ
